R&R

JJ Herz / USA / 2025 / 10 min / English with English subtitles

One has Down syndrome, the other is a chaotic lesbian. R&R are siblings, best friends, and depend on one another much to their mother’s chagrin. But why should interdependence pose a problem in the first place?

DIEGO

Mélissa Silveira / France / 2025 / 25 min / French with English subtitles

Diego’s father has a plan: a sex worker is going to turn his son into a real man. However, Diego’s sister has spotted at least one issue with said plan: Diego is into men. A warm story about family, masculinity, and siblings seeing what parents cannot.

For queer and crip people, family can be both a safety net and a straitjacket when love, norms and physical needs collide. Five films about fathers, siblings, lovers and independence. Those we need - and those who need us. Queer cinema without crip lives tells only half the story. And so we keep cripping MIX CPH with this year’s crip short film programme.
