These venues have step-free access:
# Venue with level access
For wheelchair seating in the cinema please book in advance by phone.
#The cinema seats are 43cm wide and the armrests are non-removable.
Ground floor area:
- Front door: There is an automatic main door on the left hand corner of the venue. It is 100 cm wide and accessed via 4 steps.
- For step-free access please use the entrance down the left-hand side-street, near Landemærket 26.
- For access, please ring the doorbell and staff will come and open the door which is manual and 84 cm wide.
- Please note that there are currently building works ongoing at this venue and the route into the building may be a little affected.
Basement level:
- Asta Bar is located in the basement of the venue and is reached via the main lift near the entrance to Bio Carl.
- The doors to the lift are 79 cm wide and the buttons are 140 cm above floor level and there is a handrail running around three sides.
- The wheelchair accessible toilets are located in the basement level.

Ground floor area:
- Front door (double door): one door open is 95 cm wide / both open 190 cm wide.
- One door is automatic where as the second door is manual.
- There are two wheelchair accessible toilets on the ground floor. The door frames are 85 cm wide.
1st floor access:
- There is step-free access via an external ramp running around the right side of the building.
- Please notify staff that you need to access the 1st floor so they can open the door at the end of the ramp.
- 1st floor door (double door): one door open is 82 cm wide / both open 164 cm wide.
- Please note that there are no wheelchair accessible toilets on the 1st floor.
The companion card remains valid at both Cinemateket and Empire Bio for all screenings during the festival.

To arrive to the location by car: there are many parking spots on Flæsketorvet that are about 100 meter away from the screening location.

This location has limited step-free access:
The venue can be accessed via a ramp and is step-free. The door frame to one of the two rooms is a bit narrow (just big enough for a wheelchair) and has a slightly raised doorstep.
Audio Visual Descriptions
Which films have audio visual descriptions?
This year, audio visual descriptions will be available for the following films:
The Crip Your Heart Out short film programme.
How to access the audio visual descriptions?
The audio visual descriptions will be available through the app MovieReading which you will need to download ahead of the screening.
Once you have downloaded the app, go to the catalogue and search for “MIX Copenhagen 2026”.There you can chose to download which film/programme you are going to a screening of. We recommend downloading the ADs ahead of the screening to make sure that you won’t be limited by connectivity in the cinema room.
Once you play the ADs from the app and the film starts in the cinema, the software will take between 10 and 40 seconds to synchronise the two together. If needed, use the “Sync” button to request a new synchronisation point.
Please bear in mind that the audio visual descriptions are “homemade” and that it is the first year that we are making them available through the app MovieReading. We therefore welcome any feedback on future improvements!
