Lili
Award

Our award for Best Film, Best Documentary and Best Short Film is named after the transgender Danish artist Lili Elbe, who in 1930 was the first in the world to have a gender-affirming operation. She was married to another acclaimed artist, Gerda Wegener. Together they settled in 1912 in Paris to live openly as lesbians.

The Lili Prize is awarded every year to formidable films that challenge existing gender and sexuality norms.
