Queering the Pitch 2025

Calling all Denmark-based filmmakers - Queering the Pitch is back! 

MIX has always been about creating a space for our audience to experience the best of international queer cinema. This year we want to take onto a new challenge to not only bring queer film to Copenhagen, but also to create more opportunities for local filmmakers.
Therefore, for the 40th anniversary of MIX, we are proud to announce that we are re-launching a short film pitching competition in collaboration with Storyline Studios and Filmværksted København! 

With the goal to encourage both aspiring and established filmmakers to create the queer cinema that will define the next generation of local talent, we invite everyone with a relevant idea or a script to submit them for consideration. The competition is open to short fiction, documentary or web series pilots that have relevant LGBTQ+ themes and subject matter.

The winning project is awarded:

• A monetary prize of 5,000 DKK (sponsored by Filmværksted København) to cover production costs

• 25,000 DKK worth of film equipment rental (sponsored by Storyline Studios)

• A guaranteed spot in the Nordic Lights short film program that will be screened in MIX Copenhagen 2026

• Mentorship from Mathias Broe, an established Danish filmmaker with extensive experience in the film industry.

The competition consists of a written application that will be evaluated by a MIX CPH in-house panel. All applications will be considered and the shortlisted applicants will have an opportunity to pitch their project live to a jury of renowned professionals and an audience. The winner will be selected after the live pitching session on October 26th, 2025.
