TW: Transphobia

Freddy is 30 and yearns to start a family but this poses unique challenges. He is a gay transgender man and unprepared for the physical and emotional realities of pregnancy. What feels pragmatic to him, feels confrontational to others. Against a backdrop of hostility towards trans people, he is forced to deal with conventions of masculinity, self-definition and biology. Shot over the span of three years, ‘Seahorse’ is an intimate and audacious story about family, gender and love.

The Cinematheque has level access.
